Maat center ended today, 20 March2008, training thirty journalists for neutral tackling of issues of prisoners, detainees, and their families, thus number of journalists who are trained in the framework of Social Peace Project reached 60 journalists. Some journalists affiliated to national, party, independent and regional journals were participated in the training, and some of them are preparers and broadcasters of TV programs. The training included defining international charters related to rights of prisoners and detainees, and the role of those whose jobs are related to juristic in notifying the society with all its classes of issues of this marginal sector. The training also supported social role in rehabilitating and rejoining this sector to insure securing this sector's members of any thoughts urging for violence that may be created inside sons of prisoners and detainees because of their feeling of deprivation or isolation of society.

Maat Ended Training Thirty Social Leaders

Maat center ended yesterday evening "Sunday" its first training course of thirty social leaders in the frame work of its program to" spread social peace and rejoin families of prisoners and detainees in the society", in cooperation with US Agency for International Development USAID.

Maat center started yesterday "Friday" activities of training social leaders, in the frame of its project to" rejoin and rehabilitate prisoners' families and spread social peace". Maat and the National Council for Human Rights  call upon laying down Measures for Death Penalty

Maat Center for Juridical and Constitutional Studies, coordinator of The Egyptian Alliance to Challenge Death Penalty, cooperating with The National Council for Human Rights held a round table entitled "Death Penalty Measures in the Light of the International Protection of Human Rights" on Sunday 21st, October, 2007, inside the National Council. Maat raises its Difficult Questions about the Egyptian Universities 'freedom in the Light of International Charters and Standers…

Maat Center for Juridical and Constitutional Studies observed violence actions between security members and students in number of Egyptian universities, during the period of Student Elections. These actions were done by a strange and suspicious interference of some people described as thugs. The universities' campus used to receive those thugs only in these circumstances, in spite of the security members' ability to prohibit the unknowns to be present in the university classes and squares. The center confirms the importance of the state's obligation to some international agreements and standers concerning achieving universities' independence, and guarding the academic work with what are suitable for scientists and students alike, the most important of those principles, agreements, and standers are:

Maat Center for Juridical and Constitutional Studies held its fourth training course in the frame work of the project (Freedom for All), the course organized in Qena governorate and its activities continued for two days 18& 19 October. The course aimed at training 25 lawyers (man and women) of Elmenia governorate upon "legal procedures concerning defending detainees".
Report around Activities of the Civil Society rganizations’ Inspection Visit to Al Qanater Jail.

In the framework of Maat Center for Juridical and Constitutional Studies’ adoption of a project aimed at rejoining prisoners, and detainees and their families with the society- and at spreading culture of peace- Maat center for Juridical and Constitutional Studies, represented by Mr. Ayman Ouqeel, and some organizations of civil society (One World  Association for Development and Civil Society Care, represented by Mr. Maged Soroor , Humanity Development Association  in Al Moansoura, represented by Mr. Mohamed Mohee, and the Egyptian Association for Family Development, represented by Mrs. Hala abd al Qader), these organizations made an inspection visit to Al Qanater Jail. This visit came after Ministry of Interior’s permission on the request delivered by Maat center to allow organizations of human rights, which concerned about conditions of jails and prisoners, rehabilitate them and rejoining them in the society, to participate in the collective fast breaking the ministry prepared for jailed mothers.
