05/06/2009
We did not imagine or read fortune when we issued our when we issued our previous report about Obama's visit which we issued under the title" Is Obama's speech in Cairo to end of the conflict and the beginning of the dialogue? And we expected that Obama will confess with what the American military intervention in the region cause the absence of security and peace also to apologize about that, and committed to adoption of diplomacy in resolving the pending crisis in the region, committed a more equitable position towards the Palestinian case , anti-discrimination directed towards Islam as a result of the West, as well as to identify clear mechanisms for dialogue between the United States and the Arab and Islamic world to achieve the common interests of both parties. And Obama now announcing a lot of what we expected in his speech at Cairo University, which lasted about an hour, where the U.S. President said that he has come here to search for a new beginning between the United States and the Islamic world on the basis of common interest and mutual respect which is the beginning based on the fact that America and Islam does not oppose each other and, thus, never to compete with each other but they have a common denominators and principles by which they meet these principles are justice, progress , tolerance and the dignity of every human being. About the situation in Iraq and the need to use diplomacy, said the decision on war in Iraq was an optional decision, prompting strong disagreements, both in my country or abroad, although I believe that the Iraqi people at the end of the day is the winner in the equation to get rid of the tyrant Saddam Hussein, but I also think that the events in Iraq may remembering America, to the need to use diplomacy to resolve problems whenever possible. Obama also stressed in his speech to the understanding of the suffering of the Palestinians and the difficulty of their lives because of the occupation, also expressed his rejection of the Israeli settlement, although the language of discourse is the equality between the victim and the executioner, as it could not be compared to the state terrorism practiced by Israel and violence by some Palestinian factions, under the frustration of the Palestinian people and the absence of international justice in this regard. We in Maat welcome the speech of President Obama and we consider it a promising start to a new phase of relations between the United States and the Islamic world based on common interests and the search for areas of reconciliation and away from hegemony and interference in the internal affairs of States, and a commitment to continue reform of the destroyed U.S. military intervention in the race at the social, economic and political sphere And we hope that Obama's administration is taking down on the positions of Israeli settlement and to see his ruling in the White House the end of Arab-Israeli conflict and the access of Palestinians to their rights and create an independent state. Finally, what to mention that the Arab and Muslim world are expected to Obama and his administration into concrete actions as stated in the letter, and this is the beginning of the speech to work to improve the U.S. image in the Muslim world and not just a propaganda campaign do not leave the public forums platforms and do not target only the television cameras.
